There's Gore where that came fromGore endorses Obama, says candidate has what it takes to tackle climate crisisPosted by Kate Sheppard at 9:14 PM on 16 Jun 2008Al Gore endorsed Barack Obama on Monday evening in Detroit, Mich., calling him "a candidate who, in response to those doubting our ability to solve the climate crisis and create a bright future, inspired millions to say, 'Yes we can.'" "For America to lead the world through the dangers and opportunity we're seeing before us, we've got to have new leadership," said Gore. "After eight years of incompetence, neglect and failure, we need change." Gore said John McCain should be respected for his service to his country and for taking on many in his own party on the issue of climate change. But he said that "age and experience" are not as important as sound judgment, which he argued Obama has. As for the relevance of this year's contest, Gore told the crowd, "Take it from me, elections matter." Said Obama after Gore's speech, "When I am president, I will be counting on Al Gore to help me lead the fight for a clean energy future here in the United States and around the world."
