Gore endorses Obama, says candidate has what it takes to tackle climate crisis

Al Gore endorsed Barack Obama on Monday evening in Detroit, Mich., calling him "a candidate who, in response to those doubting our ability to solve the climate crisis and create a bright future, inspired millions to say, 'Yes we can.'"

"For America to lead the world through the dangers and opportunity we're seeing before us, we've got to have new leadership," said Gore. "After eight years of incompetence, neglect and failure, we need change."

Gore said John McCain should be respected for his service to his country and for taking on many in his own party on the issue of climate change. But he said that "age and experience" are not as important as sound judgment, which he argued Obama has.

As for the relevance of this year's contest, Gore told the crowd, "Take it from me, elections matter."

Said Obama after Gore's speech, "When I am president, I will be counting on Al Gore to help me lead the fight for a clean energy future here in the United States and around the world."

Shoveling Money Into Gore's Pockets

Obama has barely gotten his party's nomination and already you can see he is potentially one of the most corruptible people ever to enter national politics.

Gore's chops are wet with anticipation of our tax dollars going to him and his cronies for his scaremongering tactics.

My vote is cast: McCain '08.

Trolls are funny

They hate Al Gore so much and seem to think telling readers that will influence them.

Thank you trolls, for opening up my eyes. Yes, indeed, Al Gore is in the pocket of the evil wind lobby. He and his cronies from "big green" will soon execute their sinister plot to destroy the planet by saving it from destruction. It's diabolically genius in its design, but thankfully I have come to realize that destroying ourselves is the only way we can survive.

Hello !!! What web site is this again ? Let's talk to our current Vice President about war profiteering ( isn't this a crime ? ) and the general destruction of the planet in the name of capitalism.

I'm a little annoyed at Mr. Gore right now...

because he endorsed Al Franken in the DFL primary over Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer (who had significantly stronger environmental goals). I know that the Als know each other and are both filthy rich but I'd thought he'd endorse the person who would actually be a leader on climate change rather than merely follow the Democratic mainstream.

Ah well, I know better than to ever trust a career politician and Jack probably would have lost anyway.

What are Obama's plans? He hasn't exactly told us, I'd sure like to know. Surely Al wouldn't have endorsed him without some details...right? I suppose in a pure effort to gain support he would align himself and his cause with the probable winner, but at least spill some detail!

Good job, Gore!

Excellent points. I'm glad Gore waited until the nomination was clear (or as clear as it seems likely to get), to avoid distracting attacks by the anti-Obama crowd.

I think this candidacy, and Obama's presidency, will give us save-the-world folks a real and much-needed boost. Come on, let's do it for the children! And the great-great-great-great-great grandchildren.
