National Journal confirms our low expectations

Republican members of Congress do not believe in climate change or deem it a priority

National Journal polls members of Congress:

National Journal climate change poll

Matt draws our attention to one particular quote from a Republican No: "If there's one thing poll after poll indicates, it's that the science is not settled on this issue."

Wow.

Also:

National Journal climate change poll

But don't worry: McCain is a maverick! So he should have no trouble overcoming the deep institutional ignorance and intransigence of his party once he's president.

BONUS QUESTION:

Here's the list of the Dems in the poll -- tell us who you think the two No's were:

Democratic Congressional Insiders Sens. Sherrod Brown, Ben Cardin, Thomas Carper, Christopher Dodd, Edward Kennedy, Frank Lautenberg, Barbara Mikulski, Mark Pryor, Ken Salazar, Jon Tester; Reps. Tom Allen, Robert Andrews, Michael Arcuri, Tammy Baldwin, Melissa Bean, Xavier Becerra, Howard Berman, Marion Berry, Rick Boucher, Michael Capuano, Dennis Cardoza, Chris Carney, James Clyburn, Jim Cooper, Joseph Crowley, Elijah Cummings, Artur Davis, Diana DeGette, Rosa DeLauro, Eliot Engel, Anna Eshoo, Sam Farr, Chaka Fattah, Bob Filner, Alcee Hastings, Mike Honda, Jay Inslee, Steve Israel, Jim Langevin, John Lewis, Zoe Lofgren, Nita Lowey, Carolyn Maloney, Ed Markey, Jim McDermott, Jim McGovern, Kendrick Meek, Jim Moran, David Price, Silvestre Reyes, Jan Schakowsky, Jose Serrano, Adam Smith, John Spratt, Pete Stark, John Tanner, Ellen Tauscher, Bennie Thompson, Chris Van Hollen, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Henry Waxman, and Peter Welch.

S'okay

Climate change believes in them, and their constituents. At least it seems to believe in the Midwest, the South and those of us out here in California.

Speaking of which, Wally Herger's-(R) district is about to lose a town called Paradise to an early season fire. Watch on Google Maps. This fire is fueled by winds in a month where normally you couldn't fly a kite if your life depended on it.

I'm upwind, thank Dog.

Put the Carbon Back

Will move west, if it did!

wow indeed

"If there's one thing poll after poll indicates, it's that the science is not settled on this issue."

Through imprecise speech, the truth is revealed.

Science illiterates

It would be intersting what those ridiculousy dummies think about the evolution or the shape of Earth.

I don't know :(

If anything

Atleast it's nice to see atleast a quarter of the Republicans polled admit to the science.

An evil God then?

If not human-induced climate instability, who will the Republicans blame the droughts, floods, famines, hordes of eco-refugees and other phenomena on?  An evil God?  Or I guess they do believe that it is human-induced after all, we're calling these problems on ourselves for not being pious enough!

Il faut cultiver notre jardin.
God

he's not evil, but hates fags. Surely we're calling these problems on ourselves for not being hetero enough...
(Perhaps that's a hint to find the 2 Dem Nos?)

And These Idiots Are In Congress!

Science was as settled on this issue as it needed to be to take serious action 20 or 30 years ago.  People in the rest of the world "believe" in the problem and that it's caused by humans, it's only in the U.S. with its idiotic idea of free speech (i.e., freedom to lie and advertise) where people have been brainwashed into thinking otherwise.
