DiCaprio's new digs

Leo's new condo full of green amenities, paparazzi

Posted by Sarah van Schagen at 12:48 PM on 08 Apr 2008

Attention, paparazzi: It's Leonardo DiCaprio's 11th Hour in his current New York abode. He's Departed (or will soon) for a new LEED-certified condo in Manhattan's Battery Park City neighborhood.

DiCaprio's new digs are quite the eco-residence, featuring solar panels, a green roof, and units "decked out with locally obtained renewable materials and low- or nonpollutant paints, sealants, and adhesives."

Of course, the place also features a 50-foot lap pool, dog spa, and in-house branch of the New York Public Library. But who's counting?

Hey, Leo, invite me up?

Update: Curious about the price of green living? Well, at 1 River Terrace in Manhattan (Leo's new addy), it's about $880,000 for an 865 square foot one-bedroom unit and about $5.9 million for a 3,560 square foot four-bedroom. According to NY Condo Blog, those prices are comparable to the neighborhood average -- about $1,350 per square foot. Talk about coughing up some green!

The Lie Is Exposed

Grist exposes the lie.

"Green" is a way for the elite to enjoy their privileges while making the middle class think they should be paying more taxes.

Possibly the best Alternative Energy blog I read: New Energy and Fuel

Leo's got a green ride too!

Oh Leo.  How green you are.  Especially since in his lovely green garage, he might have a super sweet Vectrix electric scooter.  I wonder if he's on the Tesla wait list too...

at least he's trying

The truth is, if the rich don't buy the stuff first there will never be sufficient demand to make it available to the general public. When Mark Twain bought the first typewriters, they cost as much as cars. I don't know what other way folks expect it to happen.

Besides, we don't know that it's DiCaprio that demanded the lap pool or the special kennel. It was just in the LEED certified building he wanted to contribute to. And he can.

This Too Will Pass. For the guts in your cerebrum, since 2001.

Dog-spa

But do the dogs have their own lap pool?  If not, why not?  Hehey.  Ahhhouououooohhh.
