Test driving a fully electric car

As I reported earlier today, electric automaker Think -- in partnership with a couple of venture capital firms -- will be opening a North American branch next year.

I just got back from test driving the crash-tested, highway-ready (70 mph top speed) Think two-seater. Pretty damn sweet! Feels and handles exactly like a normal car -- and I'm told it's going to retail for around $20,000. You could have one next year.

The one I drove looked more or less like this one:

Quite roomy on the inside, but I prefer the looks of this one.

Portable Electron Station

I wonder how big a solar panel would be needed to charge the thing up?

Imagine being able to take it with you if you run out of fuel? Or just putting on the roof while you're at work.

I'm thinking of those people who get lost in the winter in forests.

(you'd think the mfr would provide size info, but if it's on their site, I didn't see it.)

it's all here already

so i've modded my prius with a lithium/ion battery and now have 40 miles of electric range. i've just met a guy who can give the prius a switch that forces it run exclusively on the electric. living in LA, i will now have a car that goes up to 52 MPH pure electric, but still has gas for when i need it (almost never will be the answer).

all technology that exists today. done as a mod it probably makes a prius cost 40k. if toyota would get their heads out of their ass it could be 32k for a real hybrid electric that gets at minimum 100 mpg and probably far higher.

cost for recharge

It would be nice to know how much it would cost to re-charge the battery based off your own electric rates.

Can this be easily calculated?
