Play "The Ghost Inside Our House," by Cloud Cult

We've done a lot of gushing on this site about the ecologically and musically righteous band Cloud Cult. See Sarah here, or me here, here, and here. Also I interviewed singer Craig Minewa here, and we put the band on our top 15 list here.

Cloud CultSo I won't go over all of it again. Instead I'll just point out that they have a new album -- Feel Good Ghosts -- coming out on Monday, and it's fantastic. (You can buy it from that Amazon link on Monday or, ahem, buy it directly from the band today, which will ensure they get more money out of the deal. You also get an instant download!)

In many ways Feel Good Ghosts feels like a sequel -- or, at about half the length, an addendum -- to last year's masterpiece The Meaning of 8. Lots of soaring orchestral songs, with a vibe equal parts ritualistic and celebratory, filled with found sounds, the occasional electronic beat, and Minewa's child-like yearning and hope. This song is more quiet, but I love it -- it's called "The Ghost in Our House."

Maybe I'm stupid,

which is a very good way to begin, but I can never get DR's music to play.

Anyway, I love the picture, with those goofy young people sitting outside at a table while tornadoes blow.  An exact illustration of what lots of us prudent elders think about young people.

Chickens deserve our true friendship! So do fish! So do other sentient beings! Let us learn to be kind.

Canis,

There should be a little player, with a "play" button. Do you not see the player? Or does nothing happen when you hit the "play" button?

As always,

there is a gray rectangle with a white line running along the bottom of it.  In the upper left, there is a darker gray section with LISTEN, in white letters, in it.  In the middle, in black letters, is written:

At the bottom, there is a typical set of play-music instructions, with a streaming white banner saying LOADING PLAYLIST.  Clicking on the play arrow does nothing but deepen the silence.

And this is not for the first time, though it is only now that I choose to mention it.  I have never heard your weekend selections straight from the rectangular music box.

Hm ... troublesome

I wonder how many people that happens to.

It's just a fairly simple Flash widget. Maybe you don't have Flash installed?

Same here

I have an older version of Firefox, Xp Explorer, and dial-up.  So I thought it was my fault because I am old and remember typewriters, carbon copy paper, and slide-rules.

doesn't work for me either...

...I just figured it was me.  I'm pretty sure I have flash installed, most everything else works.

Nor me, either

It used to work for me, perhaps a year ago. But has not since then. Perhaps that coincides with switching to the newer version of Explorer (with tabs).

These are only my personal opinions.
