In case you missed it, a Navy Public Affairs Officer has responded to the recent post on Navy sonar and its effects on marine mammals. FYI: "the Navy does not engage in propaganda."

Oh please........

The US Navy IS propaganda.

Their one true mission, protecting shipping from piracy, they suck at. Pirate attacks on shipping are increasing rather than decreasing.

What's the US Navy doing instead? Playing tag with Iranian gunboats in the Persian Gulf in waters that everyone agrees make them sitting ducks to missile attacks.

The one time in recent history when the US Navy had a chance to help US citizens on US soil, after Katrina, the captain of the USS Bataan accepted orders to abandon his relief mission to New Orleans and stand off.

If ever there was a time to do the right thing and take the court martial that was it. The crew of the Bataan watched on CNN as people in New Orleans go without food, water, medical supplies and amphibious rescue equipment. All of that was just downriver from NOLA on the Bataan.

So the one time in recent history that the US Navy could really pull the general citizen's ass from the fire they screwed it up. The rest of the time they play bully in the playground of the Middle East.
