An ad ran in the Washington Post a while back assuring everyone that the U.S. isn't running out of natural gas (PDF). Indeed, North America has 120 years worth!

Scarcity? What scarcity?

(Note, however, 50% of the alleged future nat gas is bound up in shale. Kinda dirty.)

The ad is from the American Clean Skies Foundation, which appears to be for nat gas what ABEC is for coal.

(Also mildly amusing: the ad quotes me.)

That's a damn

snazzy cravat he's got working. It just screams "geologist and lifelong natural gas pioneer."

Ugh

I sometimes think our entire US energy conversation can be boiled down to lots of people milling about on rumors that there's a winner-picking contest going on.  Pick me!  No, pick me!

Sean,

Is U.S. energy policy not tantamount to that very contest?

That's exactly my point.

American Power Idol

Perhaps we should update for the 21st century: Just have representatives from each energy source or technology come out on stage and put on a PR show. Then viewers could call or SMS their votes for their favorites.

"No tax breaks for you, dawg!"
