Wisconsin goes to Obama and McCain

The Wisconsin primary goes to Barack Obama and John McCain -- both got about 55%, to Clinton's 43 and Huckabee's 37 respectively (Ron Paul got his usual 4).

That's Obama's ninth victory in a row. Clinton's chances of reversing this tide are looking slimmer all the time.

On that note, both winners seem to be gearing up for the general. McCain said, "I will fight every moment of every day in this campaign to make sure Americans are not deceived by an eloquent but empty call for change." Fight that hope, Mac! Fight it!

Wrapping Soon

Clinton needed to be closer. When she wins it is fairly close mostly, when she loses, it is by pretty sizable margins.

I suspect Clinton will stay in the race until after March 4th. Even if she wins both Ohio and Texas, it is likely that the margins will not be great enough to put her back in the race. At that point, hopefully, someone close to her, will sit her down and talk about political legacies and the future.

Her only chance really, is that Obama does something foolish. I see no sign of it, he has run a masterful campaign and is extremely likely to be the next president. (Though he should pay attention to poor George McGovern and carefully vet his VP.)

OTH, it doesn't hurt Obama for her to stay in the race a bit longer, allows him to stay in the headlines and look majestic.

Obama's Options

Re Barack's green credential, if any, would you care to offer odds on his
(1)becoming Prez,
(2)being able to withstand special interests
(3)surviving.
I'm too old & cynical, having seen the same promise, in 3 great anglophon democracies, turn to dust & ashes within months not years.
The German Greens split into Fundies & Prags even before getting into a coalition government, whereupon one of them (Fischka) became a war mongering Foreign Minister.
It is almost inevitable givene the massive disconnect between what people SAy and what they Do. In amerika that fracture is even more serious, having lived off the fat of the rest of the world for the last 3 generations, there isn't a hope that can be resolved.
