... for real

It sounds like an unappetizing combination, I know, but it's for real: http://www.shrimp-petrofest.org/

I'm just saying...

Interesting how it also coincides with hurricane week. Maybe that proves how "oil and water really do mix."

Ick

That reminds me of a trip I took along the Gulf Coast about 15 years ago.  I stopped in Biloxi, and the hotel had these little "wet-wipe" towellettes in the bathroom.  When I opened one, it smelled like gasoline.  Turns out they were to be used after a walk on the beach to get all of the tar / crude oil blobs off of your feet.  I decided against swimming.

I Love LA

Well, they do some things in Louisiana that have to be respected.   Take this paring of the festivals "King" and "Queen":

Traditions

I would just like to reply to all of this.  If you've never been to Morgan City, Louisiana and actually enjoyed the festival and all of it's traditions then you shouldn't ridicule the festival.  It's a festival that celebrates the livelihood of Louisiana.  Most of the people who live here make their living off of oil and shrimp and that is where the name of the festival came from.  Also, the whole towelettes in the bathroom in Biloxi is a load of crap.  You don't come out of the water in the Gulf of Mexico with oil blobs on you.  But you know what it's okay because you are probably all Yanks anyway!  So yes South Louisiana has a lot of problems but almost everyone who lives here is proud of where they come from and are proud of our rich culture and traditions so maybe you should think before posting hurtful things on the internet.
