On Friday, Bill Moyers profiles E.O. Wilson on the latest edition of "Bill Moyers Journal." (The show is his new spot on PBS that started airing in late April, and happens to have the same name as his old show that stopped running in 1981.)

Moyers talks to Wilson about subjects ranging from his work cataloging every living creature on earth to religion to his vision for facing climate change. Check out a preview:

The show also includes an update on the work of the Earth Conservation Corps, a group of young adults who grew up along the Anacostia River working to reclaim their communities and unite social and environmental justice. Wow, thanks for the note! Moyers is one of the more understated methodical consistent and persistent voices of progressivism, and Wilson is, well, brilliant. And on PBS.

alas!

My husband does not let me watch too much TV, and for some reason he has a strong dislike of Bill Moyers, so there is no chance of my seeing this. Please comment on anything interesting, e.g. what is not already in E.O. Wilson's fascinating speech which he made when accepting the TED award.

For what it is worth, I have registered at the EOL site. No doubt I shall be satisfied with looking always at the novice-level pages, and it makes sense for the site to maintain that kind of hierarchy of information. But I wish they did not use the term "novice." It would make more sense to distinguish between, say, "general overview" and "in-depth inquiry."

Chickens deserve our true friendship! So do fish! So do other sentient beings! Let us learn to be kind.

Try pbs.org/moyers. Click on Archives. Should be available this weekend. You can watch at your leisure (i.e. when hubby ain't lookin).

I don't have tv anymore. Bill Moyers' and Charlie Rose's programs are the only things I miss. And now I don't have to. Charlie Rose has all his interviews available on the web now. What a treasure trove!

Thanks, GMUnger, that is a great idea. I was in fact thinking that there probably would be at least a transcript made available.

Charlie Rose's appreciation of the late Beverly Sills, which apparently was first shown late on the 4th of July, and which I happen to have caught as it was re-aired yesterday afternoon, was one of the most moving and triumphant things I have ever seen.
