Carbon-free air travel

We've got it figured out

Posted by Adam Browning (Guest Contributor) at 3:41 PM on 03 May 2007

It's a big problem, but I've been thinking hard about it and I think I've got it figured out:

Of course, it will take a while to perfect the technology. Nominate test-pilots in the comments. For my part, I nominate anyone who complains about Al Gore's plane travel without making an equivalent effort to fight global warming. Here's your chance to show him up, big-time.

Not quite so carbon free

Dont forget that in fact its likely the power source to wind up that catapult emits a good bit of carbon.  This is exemplified well in this other ATV powered- human sligshot video:

No this!!

The White Dwarf is a one person human powered blimp.

Before you go snickering off look at these aiship pages, the BBC and wiki..

It turns out that lighter than air craft can be wrapped with solar cells like this Solar Impulse world circling plane.

So it looks like no-carbon flight is really a possibility.

Put the Carbon Back

Thanks but

Thanks, but I think I'll stick with Centia.

Surely, it's not perfect.
But nothing else can meet the performance needed.

Cars however shouldn't be run on liquid fuels at all.
