Who's that good-lookin' guy in the commercial?

Hey, that's me!

Republicans for Environmental Protection have sponsored a TV ad on climate change to run in Austin this week. The goal is to drum up support for the several bills on climate change currently before the Texas Legislature.

Here it is:

There's also an article about the ad in the Austin-American Statesman here.

So dashing! So scientific!

This bit from the Statesman story, from the bill's sponsor, is amusing:
Watson said he had never heard of Republicans for Environmental Protection, but he welcomed its support.
Guess REP doesn't have a big profile in Texas ...

George Clooney must have been booked ...

It is perplexing why Republican environmentalists have continued to vote Republican for the last eight years.

In the end, it all comes down to biodiversity. Poison Darts--Protecting the biodiversity of our world

Just throw in some cheesy 1970s porno theme accompaniment, and you're set!  ;)

"How many Green Republicans does it take to screw in a light bulb?"  lol

how many Republicans ...

... does it take to change a light bulb, more or less greenly?

Four: one, to contact Karl Rove, to find out if incandescent or CFL is the politically expedient solution for the present need; one, to place the order with the Halliburton agent; one, with authority to carry a weapon, to make sure that the worker sent over to do the installation has his papers in order; and one, to manage the press availability.

Chickens deserve our true friendship! So do fish! So do other sentient beings! Let us learn to be kind.

That's not enough

We would also need another Republican to use inside information about the bulb purchase to make money speculating in CFL lamp shares; a former WSJ oped idologue-turned-spokesperson for the Dept of Energy to blame the fact that the old bulb burned out on the lax moral standards of the Clinton administration.

Wait a durn minute.....

Do they actually hire Greens in Bryant/College Station?

Whoa, my reality is bending....

Ummm... Jason?

Does it need to be pointed out that not everyone in Texas is a charismatic-megafauna-hating oilman, just like everyone in Vermont is not a tree-hugging hippie? If so, maybe your reality needs some more serious flexibility training.

Ooops, misspell

(That should have been Bryan, extra 't' in the above post.)

That was supposed to be sarcasm, in response to the idea that Republicans are incapable of being concerned about the environment...  (Compare and contrast to "College Station has no Greens", or "Austin has no conservatives".)

But everyone in Vermont is a tree-hugging hippie btw.   :)
