Pollan continues to fail to ever write anything less than awesomeThe new NYT piece does not disappointPosted by David Roberts at 10:16 AM on 27 Apr 2007I can't believe no Gristian has yet commented on the latest Michael Pollan piece in the NYT. What, is saying "Pollan has a new piece and it's awesome" getting tedious? This one focuses on the farm bill and how it makes us fat: A public-health researcher from Mars might legitimately wonder why a nation faced with what its surgeon general has called "an epidemic" of obesity would at the same time be in the business of subsidizing the production of high-fructose corn syrup. But such is the perversity of the farm bill: the nation's agricultural policies operate at cross-purposes with its public-health objectives. It's by Pollan, so of course it's worth reading the whole thing. And while you're at it, read the greatest Pollan piece ever, i.e., my interview!
