Which is more painful, Giuliani's line that we can deal with global warming through energy independence or Romney's line that it's not "American warming" but "global warming"? (A question for the Mittster: if, as you say, tackling this problem is going to enrich our economy, our environment, and our national security, why on earth would we wait for China to act? Seems like we'd want to get right on that, no?)

(Thanks LL!)

Not a Great Day for My Team

I agree, the responses on this question were pathetic.  I'd successfully avoided watching the presidential debates until last night, and really wish I had watched Walker, Texas Ranger instead.

Sounds more like

Thanksgiving dinner at my place after we've all had a few drinks. At the same time:
"I believe, I believe global-"
"-serious? yes-"
"-and i believe climate change is real-"
"-let's have a chance to talk"

Romney discovers beauty

but is basically clueless.  The battlecry "Energy independence!," especially when it is linked explicitly with national security, is never a good sign.

The only one who possibly is motivated to do something constructive, were he to take over in the White House, is John McCain.  But who knows?, maybe he is just pandering to independent voters in New Hampshire.

In their post-mortem conversation with Wolf Blitzer yesterday evening, Jack Cafferty commented that the moderator was terrible -- and that is plenty evident in this snippet -- ; and Jeffrey Toobin said that the inclusion of the bizarre Alan Keyes, and indulging him in his vanity campaign, was a waste of everyone's time.
