If you'd like to see a good energy bill this year ...

Take action on the energy bill

... go here and sign the petition. As we've seen, the bill is hanging by thread with a threatened presidential veto and partisan squabbling in the Senate. Still, if Bush is going to threaten a veto, best to actually make him do so, and force the key issues, fuel economy standards and a renewable portfolio standard, into the public eye and hopefully the presidential campaign.

Energy Bill 2007

hey Joseph

Thanks for getting the word out about http://www.energybill2007.us.

The ACEEE would like the House of Representatives to pass their proposed regulation of every car, lightweight, and heavyweight truck of a 35 mpg standard by 2020. This would be the first time since regulations have gone into effect that heavyweight vehicles would be included in an annual regulation.  ACEEE's goal is to lower the United State's oil dependency by 2.5 Billion barrels per day in 2030.

Additionally, the Renewable Energy Standard is asking the Senate to implement is an U.S. government regulation of energy sources be maintained at a 15% renewable energy standard.  Predicted to save 40 Billion kWH by 2020, the Union of Concerned Scientist claim that if the government required up to 20% of renewable energy standards by 2020, the nation would see an additional 355,000 new high-paying jobs and save consumers atleast $49 Billion on their electric/natural gas bills.

These reasons have pushed my interest toward learning more about CAFE and RES.  If anyone want to learn more about these provisions, definitely check out the link above.

Thanks!
