Speedboat powered with ass fat.

Uh, folks, is this story real?

Saving the planet can be a real pain in the butt. Just ask Peter Bethune, who's powering his speedboat with biodiesel made of fat from his backside.
That's right, Wired is reporting that some dude turned his own liposuction fat into a liter of biodiesel. OK, so he admits it's just a symbolic gesture -- part of a publicity stunt to promote renewable fuels. The main event is breaking the round-the-world speed boat record in a rad-looking, biodiesel-powered boat.

Assuming this isn't a hoax, is it even a good idea? I mean, leaving aside the fact that speed boats are energy hogs (and an outsized environmental offender, according to this book), does it help promote renewable fuels to link the concepts of "biodiesel" and "ass lard" in people's minds?

Can I run my minivan on the beer belly I've developed since becoming a father?

Hmm, I power my bicycle

I power my bicycle on the fat stored around my waist... at least I intend to.  But wait, maybe it's not the same thing...

Funny post!!  Thanks for something light!

I might be able to use this...

"biodiesel" = "ass lard" Can I now use the words interchangeably in my critiques?

In the end, it all comes down to biodiversity. Poison Darts--Protecting the biodiversity of our world
Human-based biofuel

Remember Soylan Green, the '70s dystopia drama wherein the official solution to feeding people in a grotesquely overpopulated world was to feed people people? Well, damn it, if you people insist on driving those infernal machines around, you'd better be ready to contribute some fuel. Guess those corn subsidies have a function after all. Cheap corn=ubiquitous high-fructose corn syrup=rising obesity=more human-based biofuel,

Humans as batteries!

Or sources of power. Sounds very Matrix-like. I'm going to be silly and suggest that this would give hope to people seeking to lose weight. Not only will they be getting healthier and fitter, but they're also helping the planet by providing alternative energy! What next, small machines being powered by the oil from people's faces?
