We guv you, tooA majority of states retain green-leaning guvsPosted by Kate Sheppard at 3:50 PM on 08 Nov 2006A few more important results from gubernatorial races: In Colorado, Rep. Bob Beauprez (R) lost the governor's race to Bill Ritter (D), whose support of new energy sources and preserving public lands put him among the candidates supported by big enviro groups. Beauprez had a dismal environmental record. Over in Maryland, green Baltimore mayor Martin O'Malley (D) claimed a win over incumbent Robert Ehrlich (R). News in the Nevada race was a bit more grim -- Jim Gibbons (R) defeated Dina Titus (D), a supporter of clean, renewable energy and reduced greenhouse-gas emissions. But New Mexico voted overwhelmingly in favor of retaining incumbent Democrat Bill Richardson, who has outlined forward-thinking policies on energy and has a favorable environmental record thus far. Oregon voters also decided to keep Democrat Ted Kulongoski. And in Wisconsin, voters gave incumbent Democrat Jim Doyle the nod over challenger Republican former Rep. Mark Green.
